BRENTWOOD clinched their first Shepherd Neame Essex League Premier Division title since 2011 after brushing aside Chingford in their final game of the season at the Old County Ground.

The home side went into the game knowing destiny was very much in their own hand’s and they swiftly wrapped up proceedings with a ruthless display.

Aaron West led the way, taking 5/25 as Chingford were dismissed for just 92. Alfie Taylor top-scored for the struggling visitors with 27. However, the result was never in any doubt.

Dan Lawrence claimed a couple of wickets – including that of Essex teammate, Will Buttleman – But Brentwood, unsurprisingly, easily reached their meagre target inside 26 overs – Kieran Emmanuel hit 27, while Jack Hebron (21) and Tom Oakley (24) saw them over the line
and claiming the league’s top spot, 30 points clear of nearest challengers, Wanstead & Snaresbrook who slipped to defeat at Hornchurch and completing a historic double after landing the League Cup a fortnight ago.

Points: Brentwood 20 Chingford 1
