LEIGH-ON-SEA capped a fine season by clinching the Shepherd Neame Essex League Division Three title, while across Chalkwell Park, local rivals, Westcliff-On-Sea, ensured they will join them in Division Two after winning promotion.

Ahead of the action, the title was Leigh’s to lose. However, they produced an emphatic performance to claim the silverware on offer.

Jack Wagstaff’s superb unbeaten 156, largely accompanied by 80 from Jon Edwards ensured a day to remember for the home side. Their 258/2 never really looking trobled.

And they backed up that performance when handed the ball. Joe Sexton impressively taking 6/40, while Adam Rendall chipped in with 4/27 as Goresbrook were skittled for just 81 in the 25th over.
